Tree Planting

Updated: Mar 17, 2021

The children collected conkers and we planted them in pots, once they had a good root ball and were 2 ft tall we planted them all over the farm. The big job is making sure they are in a position of safety, everything gets eaten on a farm. The cows love to eat young trees! Tree guards and electric are a must.
We are still planting trees of native species such as Oak, Ash and Horse Chestnut.
This February we are planting hedges, 100's of tiny plants protected by degradable plastic covers called "spirals", keeps them safe from rabbits. Each plant is supported with a cane to keep it growing straight up.
In years to come the farm will have all the fields edged with beautiful hawthorn/blackthorn/hazel/verbena/dog rose/crab apple.
A sumptuous feast for the birds and plenty of protection for the farm animals and the wildlife.
PLEASE BARE WITH US AS WE ARE NEW TO BLOGGING!!
 no idea what i'm doing!
