Plum Tree C Section delivery Thursday 18th March 2021

We had a jersey cross cow who couldn't deliver her calf tonight. Both feet were present but she couldn't push the calf out. As with humans if the baby is too large to come out naturally without damaging the mother, then a caesarean is performed.

This is an operation where the skin is cut under an anaesthetic to gain access to the uterus/womb and then that is cut to reach the baby inside or in this case the calf inside.

She was as good as gold, knew nothing about it until she had her calf once it was all over.

The video is of them both a couple of hours later, about 10ish last night.

I can't remember the last time we had a caesarean here, hopefully, it won't happen very often. Fingers crossed!
